How to Get Stickers off a Car Body

Are you wondering about the easiest way to get a sticker off the body of your car without damaging the paint? These everyday items can help:

  • A bit of car washing soap
  • Hairdryer
  • Plastic card (library card, membership card, etc.)
  • Tree sap remover or Goo Gone Automotive
  • Clean, dry towels

Collect everything that you need, and once you have all of the necessary items, all you have to do is follow these simple tips to remove any sticker from the body of your car:

  1. Clean the entire sticker and surrounding area with car wash soap.
  2. Put the hair dryer on the hot setting and keep it two to three inches away from the sticker for a few seconds. Be sure to heat the entire sticker by working from the inside out.
  3. After the sticker has been heated, use the plastic card by sliding it under the sticker’s edge. If you see the adhesive residue starting to lift, you should be able to slowly peel the rest off. You might need to repeat the heating and peeling process to get the entire sticker off. Keep in mind that the sticker could come off in bits rather than one piece.
  4. Is there still a layer of residue left behind? If so, you may be wondering how to remove sticker residue from a car. This is also quite simple. All you have to do is use a clean, dry cloth and some tree sap remover or Goo Gone Automotive and wipe the area carefully. This should solve the problem.

How to Get Stickers Off a Car Window

Removing stickers from a car window requires different products and techniques. The hairdryer is not necessary, and you are able to swap the plastic card for a razor blade. Just be mindful of your safety. Also, keep in mind that you should never use a razor blade on the inside of tinted windows. The products that you will need this time around include:

  • A razor blade
  • Clean, dry towels
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Dish soap and hot water

Once you have all of the items above, here is what you need to do:

  1. Use the razor blade to peel up a bit of the sticker, then remove it as cleanly as you can by hand.
  2. Try to remove the sticker residue with dish soap and hot water. If this doesn’t work, the steps below can help.
  3. If the soap and hot water did not get all of the sticker residue off, you can take your razor blade and carefully scrape at the residue until it lifts.
  4. If this is still not enough, you can try using rubbing alcohol. Just soak a paper towel in the rubbing alcohol and scrub away, using the razor blade intermittently. To clean the area, all you need is a clean towel that has been soaked in water.
