Ice Skating at Central Park Ice Skating Trail

Measuring 810 feet long and 20 feet wide, the Central Park Ice Skating Trail in Maple Grove, MN is a large ice skating rink that provides fun for the whole family during the winter months! Skating sessions are from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on weekdays and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekends. It’s free to skate, and rentals are available for $6.00 if you don’t have your own skates to bring along.

Winter Fun at Elm Creek Park Reserve

Searching for a place to go sledding, skiing, or tubing? How about snowmobiling, hiking or snowshoeing? You can do all these safe & socially-distanced winter activities in Maple Grove this season and beyond at the Elm Creek Park Reserve, the largest park in Three Rivers. With 4,900 acres, there’s a whole lot of space to explore at Elm Creek! Plus, it’s open from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day! Head to the dedicated winter recreation area for season-specific activities.

When? The winter recreation area is usually open mid-December through mid-March.

Shopping at Ridgedale Center

Need to get some last-minute holiday shopping done? Looking to do some distanced walking indoors? Head to the Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka. Curbside pickup is available, and the staff is making sure to provide you ample opportunities to sanitize your hands during COVID-19 days (just make sure to mask up!). You can even reserve a time to shop with Spot Holder for a more convenient, safer experience.

Cross Country Skiing at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park

Head over to Mississippi Gateway Regional Park (formerly, and perhaps still better known as Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park) for a day filled with physical exercise and unbeatable views of the Mississippi River. One of the best activities to do here is to go cross country skiing, but this park also accommodates other fun things to do in the winter, like going for nature walks.

Get Drive Through at Wagner’s Drive In

Wagner’s Drive In has been a staple around Minneapolis for over three decades. It’s one of the best places to go if you have a hankering for burgers, fries, malted milkshakes, or even homemade soups and coleslaw. Plus, the best part is that you don’t even have to get out of your car to enjoy these tasty treats; you can drive right through and take your food to your favorite scenic winter destination, or head home for movie night. Either way works!

Winter Walking at Dakota Rail Regional Trail

Watch the snowflakes fall and catch them on your tongue or eyelashes as you go for a winter walk at the Dakota Rail Regional Trail in Wayzata. Over 100 miles of the regional trail system are plowed in the winter so you can continue to enjoy nature, no matter the weather! Plus, this park is open from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.
