  • 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 Towing Capacity: 13,300 pounds
  • 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500 Towing Capacity: 18,510 pounds
  • 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500 Towing Capacity: 36,000 pounds

What is Tow/Haul Mode in a Chevy Silverado?

Now that you know more about the Chevy Silverado towing capacity, what is the Tow/Haul Mode? When activated, the Tow/Haul Mode in your Silverado adjusts the transmission’s shifting pattern to reduce shift cycling. This gives your Silverado increased performance, better control, and additional transmission and engine cooling while carrying or towing heavy loads around Maple Grove.

When to Use Chevy’s Tow Mode

While the Chevy Silverado Tow/Haul Mode is primarily used for towing and hauling large loads to protect your transmission and engine, there are other instances where the Tow/Haul Mode can be useful. If you take your truck traveling far outside of Minnetonka and encounter steep hills or mountain grades, the Tow/Haul Mode can be used to better control your descent.

There is one instance where the Tow/Haul Mode should not be used: in icy or slippery road conditions. The increase in engine braking may lead to reduced traction, which can cause slipping. Only use Tow/Haul Mode if you are safely able to tow in decent road conditions.
